Gourmet on Pelješac peninsula
Sea and Southern Vineyards Flavour
Pelješac holds a special place on the Croatian culinary map. Its rocky slope vineyards have blessed the world with the unique Plavac Mali variety and the sea around Pelješac has turned the Dalmatian cuisine into a genuine feast.
The same goes for Orebić. If you decide to try the homemade specialties, visit one of the local restaurants. Try the white fish - gilthead bream, seabass, red scorpionfish or dentex, grilled or baked under the terracotta lid. Don't forget the octopus, squid or cuttlefish. Go for the raw oysters from Pelješac farms and find out are they really an aphrodisiac. Have fun with another delicious challenge - getting to the mussels and crabs out of their shell.
If you prefer meat, you'll be thrilled by the local lamb and veal specialties baked under the terracotta lid, Dalmatian stewed beef dish pašticada and šporki makaruni – homemade pasta with beef goulash.
Leave the special Dalmatian desserts for last: klašuni, rožata, fritule and kroštule and have a glass of goat milk liqueur to put the cherry on top of your gourmet experience in Orebić.
